Cop nabbed in drug sting

LAGUNA, Philippines – A police officer and six others were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Calamba City in this province on Saturday night.

Police Officer 1 Jonic Sorio, reportedly absent without official leave, was collared by his fellow officers in Barangay Mayapa at around 8:30 p.m.

Aside from Sorio, the arresting team held Jeffrey Garcia, Safrono Abratique, Micky Jay Santos, Hilary Soriano and Carlos Siriban.

The group reportedly yielded a .45 caliber pistol and seven plastic sachets said to contain shabu.

On the same night, suspected drug traffickers Marvin Baldemeca and Carlito Pinolo were arrested by anti-narcotics agents in separate raids in the towns of Paete and Lumban, respectively.
