Gunman in pol’s ambush falls
REAL, Quezon, Philippines – Police yesterday arrested the alleged gunman in the ambush of a mayoral candidate in this province last month.
Danilo Lucero, 49, of Bago Bantay, Quezon City, was collared by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Quezon police public safety company in Barangay Kilo-loron here.
The arresting team seized from the suspect a loaded homemade .38 caliber revolver, according to Quezon police director Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Ylagan.
Lucero was tagged in the ambush of Eliseo Rozul, 58, who is running for mayor of Gen. Nakar town, on Oct. 31.
Rozul and his three companions were in a sport utility vehicle when they were shot at by two armed men in Barangay Catablingan in this town.
The victim was hit in the knees.
