Ilocos town council bet shot dead

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines, Philippines – A candidate for town councilor in Marcos, Ilocos Norte was shot dead on Wednesday night.

Conrado Agtarap, 49, a retired policeman, was tending his piggery in Sitio Calungbuyan in Barangay Lydia when unidentified gunmen shot him at 10:30 p.m., Ilocos Norte police director Senior Superintendent Albert Ocon said yesterday.

Agtarap died while being treated at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac City. 

Investigators found bullets shells for an M16 Armalite at the scene. 

Marcos Mayor Arsenio Agustin said the killing could be politically motivated.
