MANILA, Philippines – The government suspended public and private sector work as well as classes in the National Capital Region in view of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) - Economic Leaders' Meeting next week.
Work and classes were suspended to ease the traffic in Metro Manila and assure the safety of the visiting leaders of the 21 partner economies of APEC as well as it observers.
Although public sector work was suspended, the government agencies directly involved in basic services and in the APEC activities will still continue their operations.
