MANILA, Philippines – The bidding for the repair of public elementary and high schools in Camarines Sur amounting to over P15.4 million is now open, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced yesterday.

School officials need bidders for the rehabilitation of 52 public schools located in five districts of the province.

The agency said the projects would be funded by the budget allocated under the government’s Bottom-Up Budgeting Program for 2015.

Budget allocation for each school ranged from P34,000 to P1.1 million.

The pre-bid conference is set on Nov. 11, while the opening of bids will be on Nov. 24.

“Prospective bidders must have an experience of having completed at least one contract that is similar to the contract to be bid,” DepEd said.

Meanwhile, the government said over 9,000 classrooms in the Ilocos, Central Luzon and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) regions have been constructed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme for school infrastructure project.

The PPP Center said the classrooms are now being used by some 420,000 students.

Records showed the two-phase school projects, which will be operated under the build-and-transfer structure, were estimated to cost P16.28 billion and P3.86 billion, respectively.

The program covers the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and the Cordilleras.
