5.7-magnitude quake strikes Pangasinan
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a strong magnitude 5.7 earthquake in Bolinao, Pangasinan early Sunday morning.
The tremor occurred at 3:40 a.m. and its epicentre was traced 58 kilometers north west of Bolinao, Pangasinan. Its depth of focus was 43 kilometers.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said the magnitude 5.7 quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Bolinao, Pangasinan, Intensity 3 in Dagupan City, Intensity II in Baguio City; San Clemente, Tarlac, Angeles and Mabalacat, Pampanga and Intensity 1 in Manila, Muntinlupa and Makati City.
On the other hand, Phivolcs also recorded instrumental intensities in some Northern Luzon provinces. The quake was experienced at Intensity 3 in Dagupan City and Vigan City, Intensity 2 in Baguio City; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Iba, Zambales; Guagua, Pampanga and Intensity 1 in Pasig and Marikina City; San Jose, Nueva Ecija and Santiago City, Isabela.
Phivolcs said there are no damages or casualties reported. However, the agency expects aftershocks for the magnitude 5.7 quake.
Meanwhile, there are two other earthquakes reported in the country on Sunday morning. Both were traced in Davao Oriental.
The second earthquake with magnitude 3.4 was recorded at 4 a.m. in Manay, Davao Oriental while the last quake recorded at 7 a.m. was in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental with magnitude 3.3.
There were no damages reported and all earthquakes were found to be tectonic in origin.
