TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Grace Padaca, who is facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan, posted bail on Friday.
Padaca posted P40,000 bail after the anti-graft court issued a warrant for her arrest for failing to submit her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) when she was governor of Isabela.
She arrived at the Sandiganbayan with her lawyers Armand Eleazar and Rafael Juico.
The charges stemmed from a complaint filed against her by former Naguilian town mayor Francisco Ramirez.
Padaca, who said the complaint was politically motivated, is seeking to regain her seat as Isabela governor in the 2016 elections.
She filed her certificate of candidacy with the Comelec provincial office on Oct.12.
