Camarines Sur town gets water supply project

Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A project seeking to provide clean water to agrarian reform beneficiaries and local communities has been launched in Tinambac, Camarines Sur, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) reported on Wednesday.

DAR partnered with the municipal government for the establishment of a community-managed potable water, sanitation and hygiene (CPWASH) project that would provide clean and safe water to the beneficiaries.

Provincial agrarian reform program officer Gay Labad said they were pushing the project, particularly in remote areas where potable water is scarce.

Labad commended the municipal officials for their willingness to help the agency implement the project.

She said DAR provided the technology while the local government and the farmer-beneficiaries provided the construction materials and labor requirements, respectively.

Tinambac was the fifth municipality in Camarines Sur chosen for the implementation of the CPWASH project. The four others were the Canaman, Sagñay, Caramoan, and Garchitorena, Labad said.

Mayor Ruel Velarde thanked DAR for picking their town as a beneficiary of the project.
