MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government will be hosting a food festival from November 6 to 8 that will feature local and international cuisines.

Acting Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña said the food festival would be held at Greenbelt 3 Park in Ayala Center.

The three-day food festival will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then reopen from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Peña said cooking demonstrations led by renowned chefs would also be held at the venue, along with free food tasting.

Peña said the event is aimed at creating a venue where the best Filipino cuisines and those coming from other nations will be introduced.

“We are happy that our city is finally launching its very own food festival. We will be having cuisines from Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Indonesia, and a whole lot more. People will learn them through cooking demonstrations, and the best part is, they will enjoy it too as there will be food tasting,” Peña said.

For the food festival’s opening on Friday, November 6 at 5 p.m., Chef Bambi Lichauco will lead the cooking demonstration. On Saturday, November 7 at 11 a.m., Chef Nancy Reyes Lumen, known as the “Adobo Queen” will lead the cooking demo, while Chef Jean Manuel Montil will take his turn at 5 p.m.

On the last day of the food festival, Sunday, November 8, a chef from Calidad Española Co., a food company producing authentic Spanish chorizos, will do the cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. Chef Bambi Lichauco will be back to do another cooking demo at 6 p.m. as part of the festival’s closing ceremony.

To be featured at the festival are cuisines from Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Indonesia.

Participating in the first Makati Food Festival are the Filipino Heritage Festival, Ayala Center, Greenbelt, Glorietta, Belinyas, Brakinho, Fly Ace Corp., German Club, Embassy of Indonesia, Italfood and Mgourmet.
