Isabela farmers to get P67-M assistance

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The provincial government of Isabela has allotted P67 million in cash and farm assistance for farmers affected by the dry spell and Typhoon Lando.

The assistance, expected to be distributed this week in four districts, include 19,221 bags of corn seeds worth P54.7 million.

Ilagan City, the country's corn capital, will get 4,164 bags.

Gov. Faustino Dy said at least P12 million in cash assistance would also be given this week to 4,114 to farmers.

The provincial board placed Isabela under a state of calamity in August and October due to the dry spell and Lando, respectively.

Thousands of rice and corn fields were submerged under floodwaters brought by the typhoon.
