DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Two Army soldiers seized by New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas will be released to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte possibly this week.
Duterte said he received information from the NPA that Pfcs. Niño Alavaro and Marjon Anover would be turned over to him soon.
Duterte declined to give details.
Anover and Alavaro, both of the Army’s reengineered special operations team, were seized at a checkpoint in Barangay Casoon, Monkayo in Compostela Valley on Sept. 30.
