1,126 cops deployed for 'Undas'

MANILA, Philippines - The Southern Police District (SPD) has deployed some 1,126 police personnel to secure 29 cemeteries, four airports and 20 bus terminals located in its jurisdiction for today's observance of All Saints’ Day.

Covered by the SPD are the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and the municipality of Pateros. 

According to the SPD, the deployed personnel will prevent the entry of persons carrying liquor, bladed weapons, illegal drugs and other prohibited items. 

The security deployment of the SPD will also be complimented with total of 4,267 force multipliers which include barangay tanods and barangay peacekeeping action teams (BPATs), security guards and non-government organizations (NGOs) or civic organizations

SPD director Henry Rañola said he wants to ensure a peaceful commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. 

Rañola has ordered all chiefs of the seven police stations under the SPD to intensify their police visibility, round-the-clock foot and mobile patrols on the streets to counter criminals.

Personnel from the district headquarters were deployed as weekday and weekend patrollers to augment security deployment of the police stations, Rañola said.
