Comelec: Spare Negros from blackouts

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental has requested power companies here not to schedule any power interruption until the last day of voter registration today.

Provincial elections supervisor Jessie Suarez said he made the request in a letter to Central Negros, Northern Negros and Negros Occidental electric cooperatives.

Suarez said Comelec offices in 13 cities and 19 towns of Negros Occidental would be open until 8 p.m. to accommodate last-minute registrants.
