‘Robin Padilla's brother should serve prison term’
MANILA, Philippines - Ombudsman prosecutors have asked the Sandiganbayan to order the arrest of the elder brother of actor Robin Padilla, former Camarines Norte governor Casimiro Padilla Jr., for failing to return a government-issued gun.
In a manifestation filed before the anti-graft court’s first division dated Sept. 23, the Office of the Special Prosecutor said the ruling it issued in November 2012 sentencing the elder Padilla to four years in prison and perpetually disqualifying him from holding public office when he did not return a caliber .45 pistol, should be implemented.
Ombudsman lawyers, through Special Prosecutor Gidget Duque, said the defendant’s appeals have been denied.
Duque said records show that the first division of the Supreme Court denied Padilla’s petitions on April 29, 2014.
“The decision and resolution of the Sandiganbayan are now due for execution,” he said.
Padilla has been going around Daet, Camarines Norte telling people that he will run for congressman in the May 2016 elections, documents attached to the manifestation also show.
