2 dead in La Union mishap
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – Two persons died when a car driven by a former municipal councilor’s son collided with a tricycle in this town on Sunday.
Shiara Mae Nuesca, 20, and Angelica Rodriguez, 17, died while being treated in a hospital for injuries in the head and body.
City police chief Superintendent Julius Suriben said the victims were in a tricycle when they were hit by a car driven by John Mari Orros in Barangay Pagdaraoan.
Police are preparing to file charges against Orros, son of former councilor John Orros.
Meanwhile, a bus driver tagged in the death of two pedestrians in a vehicular accident in Batangas surrendered yesterday.
DLTB bus driver Nixon Tramo Dol surrendered to Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) police director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano.
Dol was accompanied by journalists when he surrendered at around 1:30 p.m.
Reports said Dol was driving along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Rafael, Sto. Tomas City, when he ran over Resbel Sarmiento, 28, and Joffer Placido, 34, at around 3:10 a.m.
Dol escaped after the accident.
