Teen held for shabu

Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A jail guard foiled an attempt by a 17-year-old boy to sneak shabu into the provincial jail in Pototan town Iloilo on Thursday, police reported yesterday.

The drugs, stuffed inside a papaya fruit, was brought to the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Jail by the minor, whose father was detained for drug charges.

The guard became suspicious after he saw a cut in the papaya, which when inspected, yielded a plastic sachet said to contain shabu, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Ariel Corcino.

The boy was turned over to the municipal social welfare and development office.
