La Union congressional bet nabbed Jun Elias
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – A candidate for congressman in the first district of this province was arrested on Thursday for violation of the anti-bouncing check law.
Justo Tito Orros III, 50, a resident of Barangay Lingsat, was collared at the GSIS office, where he works as a casual employee, in Barangay Catbangen here around 3 p.m, said Superintendent Julius Suriben, city police chief.
Orros’ arrest was based on a warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court Judge Eugenio Dacumos.
Regional Trial Court Judge Alpino Florendo ordered Orros detained in the city jail after he failed to post bail.
Orros’ arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Lily Tan of Arly Trading and Construction that he issued two bouncing checks worth P102,000 as payment for construction materials.
