10 nabbed for guns in Batangas raids

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Police arrested yesterday at least 10 persons, including a village chief and a councilman, for illegal possession of firearms in separate raids in Lipa City and Malvar town, both in Batangas.

The names of the suspects were not immediately available, according to Superintendent Arthur Bisnar, regional director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A.

Bisnar said they were still consolidating the reports on the recovery of several high-powered firearms.

Investigators said among the suspects were two officials of a village in Malvar.

Bisnar said the raids were in line with the “One-Time, Big-Time” program of the Philipine National Police’s Oplan Lambat-Sibat against criminal groups and wanted persons.
