Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – Two persons died while three others were injured when a passenger van rammed a tree in Gonzaga, Cagayan yesterday.

Passengers Hazel Joy Paconse, 25, and Eddie Danao, 53, died at the scene, according to case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Sonny Agustin.

Reports said the vehicle, driven by Daniel Fadionar, 55, was headed for Tuguegarao City from Sta. Ana town when it figured in an accident in Barangay Pateng at around 9:45 a.m.

Authorities said Fadionar could have lost control of the wheel, causing the van to hit a gemelina tree.

Reports said the road was slippery due to rains spawned by Typhoon Lando.

Fadionar and his passengers Rodrigo Benigno, 28, and Renzon Reyes, 15, were brought to the hospital for treatment.
