Ramon Efren Lazaro - The Philippine Star

MALOLOS, Philippines – Two more children died of dengue in Bulacan, bringing the total fatalities to 14, health officials said yesterday.

The latest fatalities were identified as eight-year-old Veronika Mikaela Magsakay of Barangay San Pedro, Hagonoy, and nine-year-old Neil Amiel Tapia of Barangay Bintog, Plaridel.

Magsakay died on Oct. 10 while Tapia on Oct. 13.

The total dengue cases in the province reached 6,139.

Last month, the provincial government declared a state of calamity due to the rising dengue cases.

The declaration prompted the Department of Trade and Industry to freeze prices of basic commodities in Bulacan until Nov. 26.
