BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – An election officer in Negros Occidental has been told to explain a shooting incident involving him and a police officer in Cadiz City.

Reports said Cadiz City election officer Revo Sorbito shot Police Officer 2 Warren dela Cruz on Villena street on Oct. 6.

Sorbito missed and fired again at the police officer, who retaliated.

Dela Cruz hit bystander Rablito Comparisio, 42, who was treated at a nearby clinic.

Negros Occidental election supervisor Jessie Suarez  said Friday that he would leave it to the Comelec regional office to decide on Sorbito’s case.

Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, acting Negros Occidental police director, said Sorbito and Dela Cruz have settled the case amicably.

In November 2013, Sorbito was reportedly involved in a gun-toting incident in Bacolod City.

He reportedly threatened to shoot a certain Joseph Nazareno of the community investigative support of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
