2 cops burned alive in Bataan road mishap

BALANGA CITY, Philippines – Two police officers were killed when their car burst into flames after it collided with a 10-wheeler truck along the highway in Barangay Ala-Uli in Pilar town yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Sandy Gacutan, 28, a resident of Enrile, Cagayan; and PO3 Rommald Darondon, 37, of Lubao, Pampanga, were burned beyond recognition, said Inspector Jennifer Cruz, Bataan police spokesman.

The police officers were assigned at Camp Tolentino here.

Witnesses said the Toyota Vios  (ZEM-708) was traveling along Roman Superhighway when it swerved, hitting the Isuzu wing van on the opposite direction.

Truck driver Demetrio Marasigan, 59, a resident of Bagong Silang in Balanga City, was unhurt.  He told responding policemen his brakes also malfunctioned.
