Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Ten persons were rescued when a motorboat capsized in a river in San Mariano, Isabela on Saturday.

Among those rescued were Reynaldo de Jesus, his wife Violeta, their two children and boat operator John Salaguinto. They managed to swim ashore along with five still unidentified survivors.

Investigation showed the boat was sailing in the Pinacanauan River, when it was carried away by the strong currents, according to Chief Inspector Arnold Bulan, town police chief.

The boat drifted and hit a pillar of the Minanga Bridge, which was undergoing repair.

Bulan said the boat was loaded with four tricycles and a motorcycle.
