Policeman, 2 others die in mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Three people, including a 36-year-old police officer, died in two separate motorcycle accidents in Ilagan City, Isabela and in Gonzaga, Cagayan over the weekend.

Supt. Vicente Valdez, Ilagan City police chief, said PO3 Francisco Buquel was on his way for work at the Kalinga-Isabela police detachment in Quezon town when the motorcycle he was driving at around midnight skidded along the highway. He was declared dead on arrival at the Gov. Faustino Dy Sr. Memorial Hospital.

In Gonzaga, Cagayan, laborer Erwin Cariaga, 26, and student Larry Galardo Jr., 22, died after their motorcycles collided head on at a curved portion of the national highway in Barangay Pateng. John Dazun and John Aglanao, who were riding with them, were also said to be in critical condition at a hospital here.
