NCRPO to deploy over 800 cops in Metro Manila for the holidays

Police authorities will deploy over 800 police personnel on Metro Manila streets to augment beat patrols during the holiday season.

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will beef up policemen patrolling the streets in Metro Manila, deploying over 800 personnel to the five police districts in the region.

Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, NCRPO Acting Regional Director, said the leadership will turn over 836 field training officers (FTOs) and police trainees will beef up the patrolling forces in the metropolis.

The FTOs will supervise police trainees who will undergo five months compulsory training as part of their Public Safety Field Training Program and a requirement for their status in the Philippine National Police.

The trainees will put into practice what they gained from their six months Public Safety Basic Recruit Course while they will undergo on the ground training on how to respond and enforce the law on actual situations for five months.

Pagdilao said that police presence should should be felt in the streets especially with the expected surge of petty crimes during the upcoming holiday season.

"We are a uniformed organization and being that, we must be the most disciplined and most skilled. People rely on us, let us not fail them," he said.
