MANILA, Philippines – Police are eyeing business rivalry in the killing of a 58-year-old businessman and his daughter, who were stabbed dead at their home in Binangonan, Rizal on Saturday.
Investigators are facing a blank wall on the identity of the killers of Feliciano Fulgencio and his daughter, Menchu, 30, a call center agent, according to Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba.
“We are doing our very best to solve this case and the family of the victims are cooperating with the probers,” Balba said.
He said the St. Monique Subdivision in Barangay Darangan, where the victims were living, is a secured area with closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
The Fulgencios are engaged in the sale of eggs and other market products.
The family of the victims said Feliciano had no known enemy, but he seemed uneasy and was sending text messages to someone days before he and his daughter were killed.
Feliciano’s mobile phone is missing. Police said the killers could have taken it.
Menchu’s hands were bound and she was naked from waist down when she was found by her brother, Regie, on the second floor of their house.
Feliciano’s body was found at the sala downstairs.
