Thief slain in Bulacan clash

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A suspected motorcycle thief was killed after he engaged in a shootout with police officers manning a checkpoint in San Rafael, Bulacan on Saturday.

Reports said the officers signaled the suspect to pull over but he reportedly pulled a gun and shot them, triggering a firefight.

Police recovered from the suspect a 9mm pistol and a plateless Yamaha Mio motorcycle.

Chief Superintendent Rudy Lacadin, Police Regional Office 3 director, said the checkpoint was part of the Oplan Lambat Sibat being implemented in Barangay Talacsan.
