Radio stations to be tapped in crime reporting

Raffy Viray - The Philippine Star

BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines – The provincial police office is planning to tap local radio stations in reporting and solving crime.

Bataan police director Rhodel Sermonia, seeks a partnership with local radio stations in the prompt reporting and resolution of crimes.

“Krimenitxt Mo, Aksyonan Ko seeks to provide a mechanism where the public can provide vital information on crimes without the need to divulge their identities,” he said.

A brainchild of acting Central Luzon police regional director Superintendent Rudy Lacadin, the project would help law enforcement units address and solve crimes.

“It is likewise meant as a feedback tool in determining the performance of our policemen and women in the field and a deterrent to police abuses,” Lacadin added.

Under the program, partner stations will promote the various activities of the Central Luzon police and plug the text lines where the public can report crimes and other matters needing police intervention.

Each partner station will designate text lines for faster communication with the police.

“Our partners will provide a workplace for the police officer on duty who will receive, acknowledge and refer the reports to concerned units for appropriate action,” Lacadin said.
