MANILA, Philippines - Subic Bay Freeport is the most visited tourist destination in Central Luzon in 2013 and 2014, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Subic had the highest number of local and foreign tourist arrivals based on the reports of hotel owners, Ronaldo Tiotuico, DOT director in Region 3, said during a program organized by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in celebration of National Tourism Week last Monday.
SBMA chairman Roberto Garcia said the citation is an affirmation of the efforts of the agency and its tourism stakeholders to bring Subic to the “next level.”
Garcia said the SBMA allotted some P800 million for the freeport this year, the bulk of which would be used to repair service roads and drainage systems, improve parks and tourist facilities as well as renovate the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center.
