2 killed, 13 hurt as jeepney crashes into house

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan , Philippines– Two persons were killed and 13 others were injured when an Isuzu jeepney crashed into a house in Barangay Domalandan Center here on Thursday.

Jeepney driver Jose Vargas and Villamor Garcia, 53, were pronounced dead on arrival at the Lingayen District Hospital, Superintendent Jackson Seguin, town police chief, said.

Orlie Abarabar, 24; Shaina Manuel, 17; Kressle Anne Navarro, 17; Grace Valencerinia, 36; Claudine Cabuay, 21; Evelyn Jimenez, 45; Pernaly Patricio, 16; Alfredo Esguerra; Edimer Fernandez, 16; Maricel Ramos, 18; Jennifer Nisperos, Regina Navarro and Aileen Soriano were brought to various hospitals for treatment.

Investigation showed the jeepney was travelling from Bugallon town to Dagupan City when its driver overtook a motorcycle. The driver lost control of the wheel and slammed into the house to avoid colliding with a truck going in the opposite direction.

No one was hurt among the residents of the house.
