MANILA, Philippines - Police officials are eyeing a zero crime rate during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit ministerial meetings in Iloilo.
Chief Superintendent Bernardo Diaz, Police Regional Office 6 director, said all police units in Western Visayas have been placed on full alert since Sept. 12.
A task group composed of policemen from other provinces along with personnel of the military and other law enforcement agencies will also be deployed to Iloilo during the APEC meetings.
“We are committed to ensure a zero crime incident during the APEC meetings,” Diaz said. “While Western Visayas is a generally peaceful and orderly place, we cannot be complacent in our security coverage for the APEC.”
More than a thousand delegates will attend the APEC meetings to be held at the Iloilo Convention Center from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6.
