3 dead, 27 hurt in Quirino mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – Three women died while 27 others were injured when a jeepney fell into a ravine in Diffun town, Quirino on Wednesday night.

Joan Tabelina, Linda Mabbay and Maria Belingon died at the scene while the injured victims were taken to the Quirino Provincial Hospital in Cabarroguis for treatment, said Chief Inspector Edwin Calubaquib, town police chief.

Reports said driver Samuel Timmada lost control of the wheel as he was driving down the road in Barangay Magsaysay.

Meanwhile, a bus driver died while 40 others were injured when their vehicle collided with a trailer truck in Balanga City, Bataan on Wednesday night.

Joselito Izon died while being treated at the ICMC Medical Center, where some of the injured victims where taken for treatment, according to city police chief Superintendent Frederick Obar.

Obar said Izon was pinned between the driver seat and the wheel.

Reports said the truck, driven by Marlon Paralejas, tried to overtake another vehicle but it hit the bus at about 7 p.m.
