Farm owner charged for guns, grenade
NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Police yesterday filed criminal charges against a banana plantation owner allegedly caught transporting firearms and a grenade in Magpet, North Cotabato.
Zaldy Pareja, 32, was brought to a police station in Magpet town by police officers who found the firearms in his vehicle.
The firearms were found under piles of bananas loaded in Pareja’s pickup truck.
Aside from a rifle, .45 caliber pistol and hand grenade, Pareja reportedly yielded communication gadgets.
Magpet police chief Senior Inspector Felix Fornan said Pareja failed to present documents showing his ownership of the guns.
