MANILA, Philippines - A retired judge was killed on Saturday after being trapped inside his burning house in Cebu City.
Firefighters could not rescue retired Judge Delfin Desierdo, 77, trapped inside his burning house at Sitio Honeyville 1, Barangay Quiot around 4:15 a.m., a radio report said.
Desierdo's three companions inside the house managed to exit the burning structure, the report said.
Firemen managed to control the flames from spreading to adjacent houses in the area.
Arson investigators said that an unattended lit candle placed on an altar near the victim's room could be the cause of the fire.
