LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) general manager and chief operating officer Mark Lapid is running for the Senate next year.
“I will be resigning by the end of September as I am trying to wrap up my commitment for the APEC summit,” Lapid said, referring to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November that Manila will host.
He said he is waiting for the Liberal Party (LP) to announce that he would be one of its senatorial candidates. He said he was included in a shortlist of candidates that the LP showed to the media.
“We Lapids are for the masses,” he told journalists in Filipino at the Bicol College yesterday morning.
“My father is for the masses and we are fighting for them up to now.”
Lapid was guest speaker during the 7th Tripartite Conference for Cooperative Development at the Oriental Hotel here.
Tourism and cooperatives will be his projects when he becomes senator, Lapid said.
