Japanese man nabbed over drugs in Mandaluyong

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested on Monday a 43-year-old Japanese man after he was reportedly caught selling shabu during a drug sting in Mandaluyong City. 
 
Eastern Police District (EPD) anti-illegal drugs unit members apprehended Masaki Hashimoto, of 6F Carlton lll, California Square, Libertad Street, Barangay Highway Hills.
 
Reports said that policemen pounced on Hashimoto after he handed over 2 grams of shabu to an undercover cop around 11:30 a.m. in exchange for P1,000. 
 
EPD director Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias said police are now coordinating with the Japanese embassy to determine whether Hashimoto is a member of the Yakuza,  a criminal syndicate based in Japan.
 
Hashimoto is now detained at the Mandaluyong police detention cell.
