Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

LAGUNA, Philippines  – A 36-year-old woman and her male companion were killed when two motorcycle-riding men shot and hurled a grenade at their car in Los Baños City, in this province yesterday.

Liezel Morales and Merlito Morales, both of Barangay Concepcion, San Pablo City, were identified through the identification cards recovered on their person, according to Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao.

Reports said the victims were in a Toyota Avanza (ULQ-484) parked in a dimly lit portion of Barangay Bayog when they were attacked at around 6:15 a.m.

The gunmen ensured that the victims were dead before fleeing.

Saligao created a task force to investigate the incident.

He said they are eyeing drugs and a love triangle as possible motives for the killing.

Saligao said they would verify with Land Transportation Office if the victims own the car. – With Arnell Ozaeta
