Ka Roger's daughter cleared of murder charges
MANILA, Philippines - The daughter of the late New People's Army spokesman Roger Rosal on Monday has been cleared of the murder charge filed against her.
The Quezon court issued the release order of Andrea Rosal on Monday morning, according to a statement released by rights group Karapatan-Southern Tagalog.
Last year, the Pasig court dismissed the trumped-up kidnapping charges against her, citing that there was no evidence linking her to the crimes.
The National Union of Peoples' Lawyers and Karapatan paralegals are now pushing for her immediate release, noting that there is no more legal basis to hold her in custody.
Andrea was arrested while pregnant and later on lost her baby while in detention. She blamed the administration of President Benigno Aquino III for the death of her two-day old baby.
Officials of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology were charged before the Pasig City prosecutor’s office in June 2014 for allegedly violating the rights of Andrea.
