Baguio hospital officials ordered to explain ‘poor’ service

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  – The city government has summoned officials of the state-run Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) to answer complaints about the health facility’s poor service.

The BGHMC executives were told to appear at the council’s session on Sept. 7, to explain how the hospital’s staffers are handling patients.

The order for the BGHMC executives to appear at the council came after the city government and the hospital agreed to procure two additional anaesthesia machines to enhance the health services.

The city officials said they want the BGHMC  administrators to explain the hospital’s standard operating procedures in handling patients.

BGHMC is one of the tertiary government hospitals in Northern Luzon.

Residents and patients have been complaining not only about the kind of service they were receiving, but also the way the hospital staff and officials were treating them.

They complained about the employees’ lack of compassion and the officials’ arrogance.
