MANILA, Philippines - In line with its drive to provide city residents with employment, the Parañaque City government will be holding a job fair on Monday.
In a statement, the city government said some 50 leading businesses based in the city will be joining the job fair, which targets fresh college graduates and first-time job seekers.
The activity will be coordinated through the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and will be held at the city hall grounds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Interested job applicants must be at least 18 years old, a high school graduate and must bring copies of their resume during the event.
Henry Leonardo, PESO head said multi-national corporations, giant property developers, resort hotels and BPO firms located in the new central business district of Parañaque - the Pagcor Entertainment City - will participate in the job fair.
Leonardo said job vacancies available include engineers, accountants, nurses, cashiers, service crew, hotel crew, waiters, drivers, warehouseman, electricians and welders, among others.
As of July this year, a total of 2,568 city residents have benefited from a series of job fairs held by the city government since last year, he said.
Olivarez assured residents that the city government will continue to intensify the campaign to provide gainful employment opportunities for city residents every year.
He likewise directed Leonardo to strictly enforce the city government’s policy of requiring companies to hire at least 20 percent of their employees from the pool of local applicants.
According to Olivarez, the policy will ensure that companies would prioritize local applicants recommended by the city hall for any employment opportunity after undergoing a thorough screening, evaluation and job matching processes.
