Beheaded village chief’s kin seek justice

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The family of a village chief beheaded by Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu are seeking justice for his death.

The family made the statement shortly after the metal casket containing the remains of Rodolfo Bulagao arrived at the Romulo Espaldon Naval Base from Jolo yesterday.

Bulagao of Barangay Aliguay Island located off Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte was decapitated Tuesday night in Maimbung, Sulu.

They brought Bulagao’s remains home in a private van.

Navy Capt. Roy Vincent Trinidad, chief of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao and deputy chief of the Joint Task Force Zambasulta, said the family was expecting that the victim would be released.

Trinidad said something went wrong and the negotiation failed.
