MANILA, Philippines - A suspected drug runner was killed after shooting it out with authorities in a recent drug sting in Iloilo, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.
The PDEA said Bernie Gervero, an alleged drug runner, was killed after shooting it out with the authorities.
Meanwhile, PDEA agents and local police arrested suspected drug pusher Warlito Onofre, 55; and his son, Wilmar, 26; both of Sitio Kanabaan, Barangay Managopaya, Banate, Iloilo during the buy-bust operation.
Reports showed that last August 10 around 4 a.m., authorities apprehended the Onofres after selling a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover PDEA agent in their neighborhood in Barangay Managopaya, Banate, Iloilo.
Warlito’s other son, Warren, who was with them during the drug transaction, was able to elude arrest.
Lawmen seized from the suspects were 11 plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu weighing 15.8899 grams, with an estimated street value of P95,339.
Operatives also confiscated a digital weighing scale, a cal. 38 revolver, 10 live ammunition for 9 mm., and three live ammunition for 12-gauge shotgun.
Illegal drug raps are now being readied against the Onofres, who are now temporarily detained at the PDEA regional office jail in Iloilo City.
