Blackouts hit Caraga

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The worsening power situation in Mindanao has affected the Caraga region.

The Surigao Sur Electric Cooperative yesterday announced a 12-hour power interruption today in six towns in the province to pave the way for the rehabilitation of its dilapidated structures.

To be affected are the towns of Lianga, San Agustin, Marihatag, Cagwait and Bayabas.

There will also be blackouts in Tandag City and the towns of San Miguel, Cortes and Tago due to maintenance work at the power plant owned by King Energy Generation Inc.

The Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative and the Dinagat Islands Electric Cooperative have also scheduled power interruptions this month.
