DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Four members of a family were injured in an explosion believed caused by a bullet placed under a stove in Barangay Lasip Grande in this city yesterday morning.

Zenaida, 69; her grandchildren Maria Luisa, 16, and Rizalinda, 15, and brother in-law Amado, 59, all surnamed Siapno, were brought to the Nazareth General Hospital for treatment, according to city police chief  Superintendent Christopher Abrahano.

Rizalinda was listed in serious condition while the three others suffered minor injuries.

Investigation showed that Zenaida was cooking lunch at their kitchen when she noticed that the stove was tilting.

Zenaida found an old bullet for an unknown caliber and placed it under the stove.

Investigators believe Zenaida thought the bullet was a dud, as it had been with the family for years.

An explosion ripped through the kitchen, causing injuries to the victims.

Police were still investigating the incident.
