3 held for guns, explosives

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – Army troopers arrested three persons for illegal possession of firearms and explosives in Rizal town in Cagayan over the weekend.

Orlando Duruin, 64; Mendo Bisiotan, 27, and Marlon Baganay, 20, were tagged by the military in the kidnapping and killing of Army intelligence officers Pfcs. Victor Palao, Jason Tagao and militiaman Jason Cantor, according to Cagayan Valley police assistant director Senior Superintendent Franklin Mabanag.

The remains of the victims were found at a chapel in Zinundungan Valley on July 2.

The suspects were arrested in Barangay San Juan by soldiers belonging to the Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion.

Seized from them were a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, and two improvised explosive devices.
