Mild quakes hit parts of Luzon, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines - Mild earthquakes hit parts of Luzon and Mindanao yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

A magnitude 4.5 quake struck 22 kilometers northeast of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte at 12:04 p.m. It was felt at Intensity 4 in Laoag City, Pasuquin, Pagudpud and Burgos towns in Ilocos Norte and Claveria, Cagayan, and Intensity 3 in Sarrat, Paoay and Marcos, also in Ilocos Norte.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 3.5 tremor also hit some 55 kms northeast of Bislig, Surigao del Sur at 2:22 a.m. The agency said tremors of magnitudes 3.3 and 3.4 hit Palauig, Zambales and Sarangani at 1:12 a.m. and 10:35 a.m., respectively. – Helen Flores, Artemio Dumlao
