Thousands expected at Vizcaya’s Calvary
MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of Catholic devotees are again expected to converge on Bangan Hill, the highest peak in Bayombong, for the re-enactment of Christ’s death and resurrection.
Bangan Hill, a favorite Holy Week destination, has been dubbed as the Golgotha of Nueva Vizcaya.
Bishop Ramon Villena is leading the diocese in Bayombong and Quirino in organizing the annual religious event.
Nueva Vizcaya police director Senior Superintendent John Luglug assured the public that security measures are in place to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
”All routes leading to pilgrim sites have been secured, including churches and highways,” Luglug said.
Mount Calvary replicas in Barangay Balintocatoc in Santiago City and in Iguig town both in Isabela are also expected to draw thousands of devotees.
