4 missing in boat accident off Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Police and Coast Guard personnel are searching for a family of four who are among the passengers of a boat that developed mechanical problems and drifted off Calayan, Cagayan on Wednesday.

Boat owner Ruben Geralde, his wife Roselita, brother Robin and 11-year-old son Amboy opted to stay in the boat while the other passengers removed the boat outrigger and used it as a floater until they reached the shore, Calayan police chief Senior Inspector Emil Pajarillo told The STAR.

The passengers, mostly students of the Calayan National High School, came from a fiesta celebration in Barangay Murol.
