BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The Commission on Audit (COA) has rejected the procurement by the provincial government of Negros Occidental of some P.3 million worth of fertilizers.
The COA issued a notice of disallowance to the office of the provincial agriculturist prohibiting the procurement.
Provincial administrator Enrique Pinongan on Wednesday confirmed the issuance of a notice of disallowance to the provincial government.
Pinongan said Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. ordered provincial agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan to comply with the COA requirement.
The COA said the amount was not allowed because Tabianan failed to submit the requirement on time.
It said there was an irregularity in the transaction as the payment for the fertilizer was made before the purchase request was accomplished.
