Ilocos doctor axed for neglect of duty

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A doctor in Santa, Ilocos Sur has been dismissed from service for grave misconduct and negligence.

Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Singson ordered Rosanna Besavilla’s dismissal early this week in connection with a complaint filed by a patient whom she allegedly abandoned in the middle of a caesarean operation.

Singson said Besavilla was recently accused of maligning a female police officer during a Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting early this month.

Santa Mayor Jeremy Jesus Bueno said Besavilla refused to examine an alleged rape victim and threw papers at Police Officer 3 Mary Grace Viernes of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk.

Besavilla could not  be reached for comment.
